Sheldon, Iowa — A program designed to give Sheldon students incentive to return to the community to start their careers, will begin its second year on January 1st.
The Sheldon Chamber & Development Corporation, in cooperation with O’Brien County Development, will be presenting “Homecoming Scholarships” again in 2020. Sheldon Development Director Curt Strouth talks about the “Homecoming Scholarships.”
Strouth says the whole idea is to recruit from within the community.
He explains why workforce recruitment is so important to our area.
Strouth says there is one common need that area employers report.
He says applications for the 2020 “Homecoming Scholarships” will be available beginning January 1st.
The 2019 winners were Emily Ney and Matt Dykstra, both of whom are teachers in the Sheldon Community School District.
The 2020 “Homecoming Scholarship” winners will be announced next spring during the O’Brien County Career Day event.
