Area Marching Bands Compete At MOC-FV Dutchment Festival

Sheldon, Iowa — Several high school marching bands from around the area were scheduled to perform at the State Marching Band Festival in Sheldon, and/or the MOC-Floyd Valley Dutchmen Marching Band Festival in Orange City this past Saturday. While the State Marching Band Festival in Sheldon had to be postponed due to poor field conditions, the MOC-FV Festival went on, as scheduled.

In Class 1A, South O’Brien placed 4th at the MOC-Floyd Valley festival. In Class 2A, the Marching Orabs from Sheldon placed 2nd, and won Best Color Guard & Drum Line, while Sibley-Ocheyedan took 1st Place in the 2A division, and won Best Horn Line, Best Field Conductor, and the Pizza Ranch Triple S Award for sportsmanship.

The State Marching Band Festival, which was postponed this past Saturday, will get underway Wednesday afternoon (October 11th) at 4:00 pm, at Orab Field.
