Des Moines, Iowa — One area legislator wants to remove the power of eminent domain from the Iowa Utilities Board for private ventures.
District 2 State Senator Jeff Taylor represents Sioux, O’Brien, and Cherokee counties and the easternmost townships of Plymouth County. He tells us about a bill he wrote.
Taylor says many of his rural constituents are concerned about this issue.
Taylor emphasizes the bill would not limit public utilities.
Two companies want to install CO2 pipelines in northwest Iowa. They are Summit Carbon Solutions and Navigator CO2 Ventures. The bill was introduced last week and has been assigned to the Senate Commerce Committee.
