August Sees Normal Temperatures, Somewhat Above Normal Precipitation

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon finished the month of August 2021 fairly normal for temperatures, but saw more precipitation than a normal August.

Sheldon’s average high temperature for this August was 82 degrees, compared to a normal average high of 81. The warmest temperature this August was recorded on August 20th and again on August 28th, when 88-degrees was recorded.

Sheldon’s average low temperature was 60-degrees, which is a mere 3 degrees above the normal average low. The coolest temperature this August was 45-degrees, which was recorded on August 14th.

Last month was wetter than a normal August. We received 4.79-inches of rain during August 2021. That’s 1.02-inches above the normal of 3.77, and 3.72-inches above the August 2020 precipitation total of just 1.07-inches.
