A&W Returns To Sibley

Sibley, Iowa — After being gone from the community for several years, A&W has returned to Sibley.

Years ago, Sibley had an A&W Drive In on what was then Highway 60 in town. It even had a canopy and menus for every car. While the building still stands, that drive in closed several years ago. But A&W is back. And they are again, near Highway 60. Except today’s Highway 60 is a limited access four-lane divided highway on the east side of Sibley.

The A&W opened on Monday in the Jackrabbit Junction Cooperative Energy location at 1706 Pierce Avenue. Cooperative Energy officials tell us they now own seven convenience store locations in the area — all with a food concept — after opening their first in 2008.

Brian Dreessen has been the general manager of Cooperative Energy for 18 years. He tells that when he and his team discovered a need for a new food concept in the Sibley area, they began searching for great options that the community would love. Dreessen remembered how much the community loved A&W in the past and he says he knew that bringing the brand back would be the perfect solution. Dreessen says he and his team want to continue to fill local communities’ needs for food concepts in their area. With potential plans to continue expanding, he says the greater Sibley community can be on the lookout for new A&W locations near them.
