Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon High School Boys Basketball teams, in cooperation with Stand-Aid of Iowa, raised approximately $25-hundred for the ALS Foundation in a Basketball Pride Scrimmage held in conjunction with Stand-Aid’s annual Chili Cook-Off Friday afternoon.
The scrimmage featured the Orab JV and Varsity squads facing off against Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen Union in a pair of games Friday afternoon in the O-Rena. Sheldon Head Coach Eric Maassen says approximately 200 people were on hand to take in the scrimmage. There was also a raffle for a new 32GB Apple iPad Air 2 at halftime of the varsity scrimmage.
Maassen says the scrimmage event raised about $15-hundred. $250 of that amount will be donated to the Richard Jacobson Education Fund at the Iowa Hall of Pride. The remainder will go directly to the ALS Foundation.
A spokesman for Stand-Aid of Iowa says their Chili Cook-Off raised an additional $12-hundred for the ALS Foundation.
