Sheldon, Iowa — For the twenty-sixth year, the Sheldon Noon Kiwanis is running their annual youth basketball tournament.
Joel Gesink, the spokesperson for the event tells us what’s happening.
Gesink tells us about the school-sponsored teams of fifth through eighth-grade boys.
The basketball tournament is set to take place this Saturday, February 16th, and will involve around 350 boys, according to Gesink. He says the fifth and sixth graders will play at the Northwest Iowa Community College Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center, and the seventh and eighth graders will play at the Sheldon High School “O-Rena.”
He tells us all proceeds from the event are used to support programs that provide opportunities for children in the Sheldon community.
At last report, they were still looking for volunteers to help out. If you can help, you can call Gesink at the Gesink and Vander Wilt Insurance Agency.
