Sheldon, Iowa — If you love waffles and you want to support the trails in Sheldon, there’s an event coming up that you won’t want to miss.
The Sheldon Recreational Trails Committee is sponsoring a Belgian Waffle Supper on Monday, December 5th, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Sheldon Community Services Center.
We had a chance to talk to Pete Hamill and Cheri Bosman on the KIWA Morning Show with Wayne and Aaron on Thursday, December 1st. Hamill tells us about the history of the trails.
Hamill says their fundraising is basically used to match grants.
He says the fundraiser is coming up on December 5th, and he and Bosman tell us how you can get a discount on tickets.
Hamill says this is their main fundraiser, but they’ve also got something special this year.
Hamill and Bosman emphasize that if you don’t want to go to the waffle supper, they certainly accept donations as well.
Hamill tells us about the future for the trails system.
He says there is a partial trail out there already.
Bosman says the trails system adds to the value of Sheldon as a place to live.
She says that people from out of town often mention to her how impressed they are with Sheldon’s Rec Trail System.
Hamill says people new to town tell him how much they like the trails.
Again, advance tickets for the supper are $7.00 for youth and adults. Cost at the door will be $8.00. Kids age 5 and under eat free.
