Bloodmobile Coming To Sheldon & Central Lyon High Schools

Community Blood Bank Blood MobileSheldon, Iowa — Blood donors on the KIWA listening area will have a couple of opportunities to donate in the next couple of days.  Tuesday, the Community Blood Bank Bloodmobile will set up shop at the Sheldon High School to collect blood donations from students, teachers, and the community at large.

Community Blood Bank Executive Director Ken Versteeg says he really enjoys seeing the teenagers who are donating blood for the first time.

Versteeg says that, while the blood drive is being held at Sheldon High School, the entire community is welcome to donate blood.

He reminds us that the Community Blood Bank is the sole blood supplier for the area’s hospitals.

Versteeg tells us that a full 20% of the blood received by the Community Blood Bank is used in a way that might surprise you.

The Community Blood Bank Bloodmobile will be accepting donations Tuesday at Sheldon High School from 8 am to 12:30 pm, and again from 2 until 3 pm.

Then on Wednesday of this week, the Community Blood Bank Bloodmobile will be accepting donations at Central Lyon High School in Rock Rapids.  Hours for the Central Lyon Blood Drive are Wednesday from 7:30 am to 11:00 am, and again from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm.  If you have questions about the Central Lyon blood drive, please call the Central Lyon High School at 712-472-4051.

Walk-ins are welcome at either of these blood drives.
