Ocheyedan, Iowa — Iowa State Senator David Johnson of Ocheyedan today (Tuesday, June 7th) has changed his voter registration in protest over recent comments about a federal judge, made by apparent GOP Presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Johnson explains.
Johnson says his protest stems from his belief that there is no room in the Republican Party for bigots.
The Senator tells KIWA that, while he is concerned about a backlash from some of the northwest Iowans that he represents, he felt he had to take a stand, on principles.
Johnson said he also realized that he might see something of a backlash over his support of Rick Bertrand in the primary race against incumbent 4th District U.S. Representative Steve King.
