Northwest Iowa — Thunderstorm chances return late Tuesday into Wednesday.
While there is a very low chance at a stronger storm late Tuesday afternoon/evening, the better chance for thunderstorms arrives late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The primary threat with this overnight line of storms will be damaging winds. Depending on how thunderstorms evolve through the morning hours, additional strong to severe thunderstorms may be possible during the afternoon and evening hours.
Other than a very small chance at an afternoon thunderstorm Tuesday, quiet conditions will continue into the early overnight hours Tuesday night. This changes by early Wednesday morning as a line of potentially strong to severe thunderstorms moves through the region. Depending on how the early Wednesday morning storms evolve, additional thunderstorms are again possible Wednesday afternoon and evening. Seasonable temperatures and mostly dry conditions return for the second half of the week.
