Cherokee Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Charge Of Meth Possession With Intent To Distribute

Sioux City, Iowa — A Cherokee man has pled guilty in federal court to felony possession of meth with intent to distribute.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, 54-year-old Jeffery Linn of Cherokee was convicted of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

They tell us that at the plea hearing, Linn admitted that on December 6, 2021, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle he was operating. During a search of the vehicle, law enforcement seized approximately 10 ounces of methamphetamine which Linn intended to help distribute to others. Evidence also showed that during the traffic stop, Linn attempted to swallow the meth to avoid arrest.

The US Attorney’s office says that Linn’s sentencing before United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Linn faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $10 million fine, and at least five years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
