Sioux City, Iowa — A Cherokee man will spend more than five years behind bars on child pornography charges. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 62-year-old Roger Strickland was sentenced earlier this week in U.S. District Court after having pled guilty back in April of this year to two counts of possessing child pornography.
Evidence presented at court hearings showed that from June 2022 through May 2023, Strickland received and distributed child porn. Agents searched Strickland’s home on May 25th, 2023, and seized evidence. As they were awaiting the results of forensic analysis, officers were again notified that Strickland was receiving and possessing child pornography. Officials say he received more than 225 videos and 8,000 images from August 2023 through February 2024.
Strickland remains in the custody of U.S. Marshals pending transport to a federal prison.
