Sheldon, Iowa — Once again, the City of Sheldon has heard a good report on the annual audit of the city’s finances. During Wednesday’s meeting, a representative of Winther, Stave and Company, had only positive comments in his presentation of the city’s audit report. He told the Council that the audit showed an increase in cash of about $238-thousand, and other city funds also showed substantial balances. It was also reported that all disbursements were under budget and there were no internal control issues. He complimented the City staff for their good work and said they were ‘fun to work with’.
After hearing no comments during a public hearing, the Sheldon City Council approved the five year plan for Capital Improvements. Council members emphasized that approval of the five year plan is not a final decision on any of the projects or costs contained in the plan.
The Council also approved the five year plan for the Sheldon Airport with the understanding that the City would fund ten percent of the projects for the first two years. The remaining ninety percent is paid by the FAA.
The agenda for the meeting also listed approval of a Library Director, but that item was not addressed.
At the close of the meeting Public Works Director Todd Uhl reported that the Department of Natural Resources had done a survey of the water plant and issued a good report on their findings.
