Council To Consider Approval Of Mayor’s Appointment Of Sgt. Meinecke As Interim Police Chief

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session on Wednesday, July 23, 2024. The meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center, downtown.

Among the items on their consent agenda, the council will likely renew a liquor license for Los Tulipanes, approve an applicant for the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team (SCAT), confirm the mayor’s reappointment of Cindy Runger to the Museum Board of Trustees, confirm the mayor’s appointment of Dan Sexe to the Parks and Recreation Board, approve a request from the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation (SCDC) for Hot Dog Days, adopt a new zoning map, and approve a facility use agreement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency or FEMA.

In old business, the council will continue to discuss the next steps concerning the Police Chief vacancy.

In new business, the council will consider a resolution approving the Mayor’s appointment of Eric Meinecke as interim Chief of Police, set bid and public hearing dates and approve plans and specifications for the 2024 PCC patching project and the Wyman and 16th Street Culvert Replacement Project, and consider banking services proposals.

The meeting will be at 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday in the council chambers on the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center at 416 9th Street in Sheldon.
