City Council To Discuss Events Center Management, More

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets Wednesday December 7th, they will make a decision on how to proceed with management plans for the new Events Center.

They need to choose whether they want to contract with a management agency, or hire a city employee to run Crossroads Pavilion. It sounds like most city officials are leaning toward the idea of hiring a city employee for that task. The city is already getting calls from people who would like to use the facility for their event next year. The building is expected to be ready for use in the latter part of 2017.

The council will also consider a resolution of support for tax abatement in the Trilogy addition. Van Roekel Rentals is applying to the State of Iowa for a tax abatement. As a part of that process the tax abatement must be approved by the City Council. The council will also consider an amendment to the TIF application for the new Rosenboom Machine and Tool addition.

Wednesday’s meeting begins at 4:30 in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
