City of Rock Valley Aquires Property For New City Office, Event Center

Rock Valley, Iowa — The Rock Valley City Council has approved the purchase of a building that was once home to K-Products, and recently owned by Hope Haven International. The council reportedly has plans to rehabilitate the building to allow for a new City Hall and Event Center.

The 13,400 square foot building had previously been used for office, warehouse, and manufacturing production.  Rock Valley Development Director David Miller says the City is in the beginning stages of planning and designing the rehabilitation project that includes moving City Hall from its current downtown location into the remodeled office area of the building.  Miller says the remaining 8,500 square feet will be utilized as an Event Center. He says the event space could host as many as 400-600 people depending on their final design.  Miller says the proposed event space will be available to the community to use, as well as to attract more tourism to the Rock Valley community.

The City of Rock Valley is set to hire an architectural firm to assist them with the conceptual design for the facility. Officials say they’ll also be seeking the public’s input on the Event Center design before the plans are finalized.

Rock Valley officials say construction on the City Hall portion of the building will begin once the City acquires the property, while work on the Event Center portion of the structure won’t begin until the the State of Iowa evaluates the Vision Iowa Grant Application the City of Rock Valley has submitted.
