Spencer, Iowa — An employee of the City of Spencer has been fired over her part in an altercation that happened earlier this week.
According to a social media post from the City of Spencer, they received a complaint regarding a city employee and an altercation at the Spencer Walmart Wednesday evening. Their original post went on to say that they took this allegation seriously and were working internally to resolve the matter. They assured the public that the City of Spencer does not condone the use of racial slurs and racism, and they say they continue to strive to be a community that is welcoming to all.
Later that day, the City of Spencer added the following to their original post: “UPDATE: The employee identified in the complaint we received has been terminated effective immediately.”
The City had no further comment.
