Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council met in special session on Wednesday evening.
Among their decisions, they came up with a plan to help Sheldon get back to normal after this week’s derecho, according to Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker.
Kooiker says they think that will be enough.
He tells us about the plan.
The wastewater plant is off of Western Avenue. He also reminds us that the dump at Hills park is for leaves and grass ONLY, not for trees or limbs.
Also, contractors need to haul their own trees and limbs away, with one notable exception.
Kooiker says the DOT and a number of contractors will help pick up the debris from the right-of-way. He says they will make one trip past your house, and one trip only.
And, incidentally, signup for cleanup week starts this Friday, August 1st.
City staff also advise caution when driving in Sheldon, since there are piles near the corners that limit visibility.
