Boyden, Iowa– A combine was damaged in a fire on Friday, October 14, 2016 near Boyden.
According to Boyden Fire Chief Chris Starkenburg, about 4:45 PM, the Boyden Fire Department was called to the report of a combine fire near the home of Ken Boone at 3425 Kiwi Avenue, two miles east and two and a quarter south of Boyden.
The chief says the fire department saw the combine on fire as they approached the scene. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.
Starkenburg says no injuries were reported. He says the cause of the fire is undetermined. He reports that the combine was not totally destroyed but declined to say if he thought it was repairable.
He says they used 200 gallons of water to fight the fire, and crews were on scene for a half hour to forty-five minutes.
