Estherville, Iowa (RI) – Officials in Estherville say a grant program to support property owners who spruce up the outside of their homes has had a ripple effect. Penny Clayton is the city manager in Estherville.
Estherville’s Neighborhood Facade Grant program — which started three years ago — provides a maximum grant of $4,000 and homeowners must at least match the grants that are awarded.
The City of Estherville will begin accepting applications next month for another round of grants.
Clayton says the program’s goal is to increase the other quality and value of housing in the community. Estherville’s city council voted last month to set aside $40,000 which would provide grants to at least 10 homeowners next year.
