Northwest Iowa — While it’s more certain a late-winter storm will be moving into the area from late Friday night through Saturday night, it’s less certain what the exact impacts will be in terms of snow/ice amounts and timing of changeover will be.
The more clear answer is that impacts will be greater the further north/west from Sioux Falls toward central/northeast SD where cooler temps will favor more toward ice/mix/snow, with areas toward NW IA more in favor of rain (and perhaps thunder as well!) and a more brief chance for lesser ice/snow. Things can and will change as the system is still offshore this evening, so it’s important to continue to monitor the local forecast.
