Sheldon, Iowa — If your business does business internationally, or you’d like to, you might be interested in a session coming up at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.
The session is all about foreign trade zones. O’Brien County Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Kiana Johnson, speaking on behalf of Northwest Iowa Development, gives us a little background.
She tells us about the workshop, which is a partnership with the Iowa State University Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS).
Johnson says importers, manufacturers, businesses that are engaged in global trade, and others may benefit. She tells us some of the benefits could include lower costs, improved cash flow, and stronger global competitiveness. Cost-saving tools could include duty deferral and tariff management. They will present real examples of companies using foreign trade zone strategies to compete globally and practical steps to determine whether a foreign trade zone fits your company’s operations.
The workshop will be on Wednesday, April 1st, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Northwest Iowa Community College Building C in Sheldon.
