Council Approves Various Resolutions During Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council met in regular session Wednesday, they approved a Contract for Development and Minimum Assessment Agreement with Country View Construction, on a property located southeast of the highway 18 and 60 interchange in eastern Sheldon. City Manager Sam Kooiker explains.

In other action, Kooiker says the Council approved a resolution supporting the application for a Workforce Housing Tax Credit by the owner of some properties in the 300 block downtown.

The Council also held a public hearing, followed by a resolution approving the voluntary annexation of property located on the south edge of Sheldon. Kooiker tells us more.

Following the annexation of the property, the Council approved rezoning it from Ag to Arterial Commercial.

Yet another public hearing was held at Wednesday’s meeting, this one on the updated Sheldon Code of Ordinances. Kooiker says the updating of the ordinances has been in process for quite some time.

Following the public hearing, the 1st Reading of the Updated Code of Ordinances was passed. It now moves on to the 2nd reading at the next Council meeting.
