Council Hears City Audit Report, Talks Auditor Selection

Sheldon, Iowa — Much of Wednesday’s Sheldon City Council Meeting was taken up by discussion of the Audit Report for the City of Sheldon for last year.

A representative from the City’s audit firm, Winther & Stave in Spencer, presented the 55-page audit report and went over the highlights with the council. City Manager Sam Kooiker says there were two big things he took away from the audit report.

He says the second takeaway involves City donations to non-profit entities.

Also on Wednesday’s agenda was the search for an accounting firm to conduct the City’s audit going forward. Kooiker says that’s a routine item that happens every three years.

Kooiker talks about the auditor selection process.

The three firms to submit proposals were T.P. Anderson & Company of Humboldt, Wither Stave & Company of Spencer and Williams & Company of Sheldon.
