Sheldon, Iowa — The old term, “short and sweet,” could be used to describe Wednesday’s Sheldon City Council meeting.
The meeting, which was called to order by Mayor Pro-Tem Brad Hindt, began at 4:30 and was completed by 4:35, save for a closed session to discuss a potential real estate purchase.
Much of the Council’s business was dispensed with via the Consent Agenda, which allows the Council to approve multiple items with one vote. Some of the things approved through the Consent Agenda include: the adoption of a new 28E agreement with O’Brien County’s Carroll Township for fire protection; a resolution approving an Engagement Agreement with Ahlers & Cooney, P.C. to update the Children’s World Grant Agreement; a Rec Department Grant Application; and other items.
The sole item of New Business on the Council’s agenda involved the 2022-23 fiscal year budget. A public hearing was held on the matter, with no in-person or written comments presented. Following the public hearing, the Council unanimously passed a resolution approving that budget.
Following the brief session, the Council entered closed session to discuss the potential purchase of real estate.
