UPDATE: Council Offers City Manager Job To Texas Man – He Accepts

Sheldon, Iowa — Earlier we told you that the City of Sheldon had offered the vacant City Manager position to a Texas man.

This morning (Wednesday, October 12th) Sheldon Mayor Katricia Meendering told KIWA that Sean Hutchison has accepted the position, and is expected to begin work in Sheldon December 1st.

Hutchison comes to Sheldon from Crockett, Texas, where he has served as City Administrator and Director of Public Works since 2014.  Prior to that position, Hutchison served as Village Administrator and Director of Public Works for the Village of Combine Locks, Wisconsin.

Hutchison holds the designation of Certified Public Manager through the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Kennedy-Western University in Cheyenne, Wyoming along with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science and Advanced Supervisory Management from Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Hutchison’s starting salary in Sheldon will be $95-thousand a year.

Mayor Katricia Meendering says Sean Hutchison currently serves in the City of Crockett, TX, a community located approximately 100 miles south of Dallas, as the City Administrator/Director of Public Works.  She says Mr. Hutchison served in a similar role from 2007 to 2014 as Village Administrator/Director of Public Works for the Village of Combine Locks, WI.

Hutchison holds the designation of Certified Public Manager through the University of Wisconsin-Madison and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Kennedy-Western University in Cheyenne, Wyoming and an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science and Advances Supervisory Management from Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Mayor Meendering says the City is hopeful that Hutchison will accept their offer today.

She says that, assuming Hutchison accepts the Sheldon job, the City of Sheldon anticipates Mr. Hutchison would begin his duties in Sheldon on December 1st.

The new City Manager would be paid a starting salary of $95-thousand a year, according to the Mayor.
