Council Postpones Replacement Of Sheldon Airport Commissioner

Sheldon, Iowa – When the Sheldon City Council met in regular session Wednesday afternoon, one of the items from their Consent Agenda was requested to be moved to the New Business portion of the agenda. The items was the Mayor’s recommendation for Council appointment of Paul Honerman to replace Josh Kraayenbrink on the Sheldon Airport Commission. That term expires on July 1st of 2028.

The matter was moved to the New Business agenda due to some concerns about the timing of Kraayenbrink’s departure, in view of some projects the Airport Commission has in the works. Sheldon Mayor Greg Geels explains.

The mayor offered a suggestion to the council, involving a period of transition.

The council approved the mayor’s suggestion.

In other action, the council unanimously approved moving forward with the development of a Master Plan for the Sheldon City Park with Beck Engineering, as well as items in the Consent Agenda, including the approval of a resolution to pay Application #2 to Kunkel Construction for the Upper Story 324-326 9th Street Project, the appointment of Kathy Wierenga to the Museum Board of Trustees, and approval of the liquor license for Brady’s Pub.
