Council Renews HTC Franchise

HTC CommunicationsSheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council has renewed the HTC Communications Franchise.  At their Wednesday meeting the Council heard the second reading of the Franchise Ordinance followed by action to waive the third reading. They then voted to adopt the ordinance.   Although the Franchise that expired at the end of 2016 had been in effect for 25 years, the new Franchise is for a ten year period.  The City will continue to receive a five percent franchise fee from HTC, based on the gross revenues derived from the operation that provides multi-channel video to subscribers within the city limits.

In other business, Mayor Katricia Meendering told the Council that she will be meeting soon with Don and Marietta Schultz who had complained to the Council about water runoff problems in their area.

City Manager Sean Hutchison reported to the Council that he is reviewing the Employee Evaluation Manual and will be suggesting some changes for their consideration.
