They also voted to accept the bid from Solsma Brothers of Hospers to do the work on the next improvement in the Runger Addition. This project will connect Runger Avenue to Country Club Road. Solsma Brothers submitted a bid of $446,963 which was the lowest of the three firms bidding on the project. The work is expected to be completed by October first of this year.

The council also sent the proposed new water and sewer ordinance on to its third reading at the next council meeting.

Public Works Director Todd Uhl told the council they have received five thousand dollars-worth of new signs from the Department of Transportation. These signs will replace many of the current signs that are in poor condition or need to be updated.

Uhl also reported on the progress of the new ball fields. He said the new ball fields will probably not be used this summer, but the open areas for soccer fields will be used for a soccer tournament in July and football practice this Fall.
