Sheldon, Iowa — The lion’s share of Wednesday’s regular meeting of the Sheldon City Council was spent discussing finances, of one form or another.
Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker says the Council passed a resolution naming depositories for City funds. He explains.
Kooiker says the increased interest paid adds up to at least an additional $250,000 each year in the City’s General Fund.
The Council also continued a discussion begun at the last Council meeting, which centered around LOST, or Local Option Sales Tax. Kooiker says the extra one-cent of sales tax has generated between $600-thousand and $900-thousand dollars, or more, each year for the City’s coffers.
