Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets this Wednesday, October 16th, they will act on a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission to amend an Ordinance pertaining to the use of the first floor of downtown buildings for residential purposes. The ordinance changes would allow first floor residential use with certain conditions.
The council will also be asked to pass a resolution affirming that the city does not object to the FEMA flood hazard determinations regarding city-owned parcels. The new FEMA map not only affects what is in the flood zones, it also affects the availability and cost of flood insurance. And, as part of the consent agenda the council will be asked to approve a change order for the new Spartan Fire Pumper. This change will result in a savings of $325.58 on the purchase price.
After the regular agenda items, the council will hold a workshop to review the 2018-19 budget. This will be in preparation for a Goal Setting meeting that will be held in December. It’s hoped that by discussing the results from the previous year, the next set of budget workshops will be more productive than previous sessions.
Wednesday’s meeting will begin at 4:30 in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
