Sheldon, Iowa — The COVID-19 vaccine from Moderna arrived in northwest Iowa earlier this week, with initial doses administered this past Tuesday.
Nic Vust, of Sanford Sheldon, says the initial shipment of vaccine was administered to frontline healthcare workers.
Vust talks about who will be vaccinated in the second wave of shipments of the vaccine.
He says the immunizations should be available to the general public within the next few months.
Many people are concerned about the safety of the new vaccines, but Vust says they are safe and he suffered no ill effects from his vaccination.
Vust says it’s still extremely important to wash your hands frequently, wear a mask and practice social distancing, especially before the vaccinations have been administered to the general public. He also says that this year it is especially important that everyone gets a flu shot.
