Democrat Announces Candidacy For Iowa House District 3

Hawarden, Iowa — There is now another candidate for Iowa House District 3, which covers all of Plymouth County and the southern part of Sioux County.

Emma Bouza of Hawarden has officially announced candidacy for Iowa State Representative House District 3. Her campaign says she has a steadfast commitment to education and disability rights. It says Bouza “brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the forefront of District 3 and the State of Iowa’s political landscape.”

Bouza is running for the Democratic Party nomination to the seat.

Her campaign says she has served on numerous boards and councils the last several years including the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Board of Directors, Iowa Developmental Disability Council, Governor’s Early ACCESS Council, the Child Health Specialty Clinic Family Advisory Council, the Hawarden Area Arts Council, and the Hawarden Chamber Retail Committee.

Bouza says that as a parent of a child with disabilities, she has a proven track record of advocacy for her own child, along with all individuals with disabilities. She says she is the founder of Ruby’s Red Bags, which is a project that supplies sensory bags to first responder vehicles so emergency responders are better equipped to help those with disabilities in an emergency situation.

Bouza tells us she wants to emphasize her commitment to education in the state of Iowa, specifically special education, aiming to continue to fight against the current legislative changes being made to education.

She says, “Now, more than ever, Iowa needs strong principled leadership to tackle the challenges facing our state. Iowans deserve to not only be heard, but for leadership to actually listen.”
