Democratic Congressional Candidate To Visit, Osceola, Lyon, Sioux Counties

Sheldon, Iowa — The Democrat running against Republican Congressman Steve King for his Iowa Fourth District U.S. House position is coming to our part of northwest Iowa on Wednesday, October 10th.

J.D. Scholten tells us that his father is actually from our part of northwest Iowa — specifically Larchwood in northwestern Lyon County. Lyon County is actually one of the counties that Scholten will visit on Wednesday.

Scholten says his “You Can’t Fake Showing Up” tour will start the day in Sibley at 11:00 a.m. He’ll be at the Sibley Public Library from 11 until noon. Then it’s on to Rock Rapids, where Scholten’s campaign says he’ll be at the Rock Rapids Public Library from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. After that, he’s headed to Northwestern College in Orange City, where he’ll appear from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the DeWitt Theatre Lobby.

All of the appearances are “public town meetings,” and everyone is welcome.

Scholten is a former minor league professional baseball pitcher-turned paralegal. He decided to return to Iowa to run for Congress after being upset at the election of President Donald Trump in 2016.
