Demolition To Begin Monday On Ag Partners Structure Damaged In 2019 Explosion

Sheldon, Iowa — Demolition will begin Monday on a structure damaged in an explosion last summer at Ag Partners in Sheldon.

The structure was damaged shortly after 9:00 Friday morning, June 14, 2019. At the time of the explosion, an Ag Partners spokesman said the damage was confined to an old grain house that no longer got much use. As a result, the spokesman said the incident had minimal impact on the company’s production. In fact, production resumed later that day.

The demolition of the damaged structure will utilize heavy equipment, and is expected to take approximately two weeks, during which Ag Partners officials say they will be closed for grain receipts. Feed production and mill operation will not be interrupted, according to company officials.

West 9th Street will be closed beginning at 2nd Avenue (Old 60) during the demolition period, and dust will be controlled. For the public’s safety, only authorized persons will be allowed on the property during that time, according to company officials.

Ag Partners says they will retain 1-million bushels of upright storage, plus existing drying capacity after these structures are removed.
