Orange City, Iowa — Wednesday was a big day for a longtime Orange City business.
Diamond Vogel held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of its Innovation Center, which they tell us is the latest phase of Diamond Vogel’s Building on Success Initiative that started in 2018, which includes several improvements to its Orange City campus.
Diamond Vogel officials say the Innovation Center adds 36,000 square feet of state-of-the-art laboratory and office space, allowing up to 60 research and development scientists to collaborate on improvements and advancements to Diamond Vogel’s extensive line of paints and coatings. Diamond Vogel says they partnered with the architectural firm CMBA Architects based in Sioux City, Iowa, to design the project and selected Hoogendoorn Construction from Canton, South Dakota, to manage the project’s construction. Union Bank from Lincoln, NE, financed the project, and the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) partnered with Diamond Vogel on the project as part of the High-Quality Jobs Program.
Leading the ribbon-cutting ceremony were Diamond Vogel’s Chairman of the Board, Drew Vogel, and President and CEO, Jeff Powell. IEDA Director Debbie Durham, American Coatings Association President and CEO Andy Doyle, and Orange City City Administrator Earl Woudstra provided additional remarks at the ceremony.
Diamond Vogel employees and community members joined the celebration and took tours of the new facility.
Drew Vogel, Chairman of the Board says, “Our company’s first research lab was no bigger than a closet. Now with the Innovation Center, we have a cutting-edge facility able to support our research and development team in Orange City. We are thankful to have a facility that measures up to the people working in it.”
Jeff Powell, Diamond Vogel’s President and CEO says, “Orange City is Diamond Vogel, Diamond Vogel is Orange City.”
For 97 years Diamond Vogel has been a flagship of Orange City according to Powell. He says the ribbon cutting and opening of the company’s “Innovation Center” is a bright sign for the future of the company known for high-quality paints and coatings.
