Sheldon, Iowa — This Thursday, February 29th, you might hear some sirens in Sheldon and you might wonder what’s going on at Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC).
NCC’s Emergency Services Education Coordinator, Kevin Miller tells us about the disaster drill that is planned.
He tells us the event will be a collaboration and benefit for all stakeholders involved.
Miller says while they do some emergency planning every year, those involved decided it was time for a full-scale test.
Miller says the scenario they’re going to act out this time has to do with an active attacker. But in order to keep things a surprise for those involved — like it would be in a real emergency — he says he couldn’t release any further details. Again, the disaster drill at NCC will be on Thursday, February 29th, basically at the Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center, which, again, will be closed during the exercise.
