Sheldon, Iowa — It’s now official, Sheldon’s Dollar General Store is planning to relocate to a tract of land located northwest of the City Park, along Highway 18.
Rod Fonkert of Action Realty in Sheldon says the real estate purchased for the store is located at the northwest corner of Highway 18 and 4th Avenue in Sheldon. Fonkert says the property involved extends from the former Sheldon Drapery and Interiors building east to the 4th Avenue intersection.
Fonkert says Missouri-based Glenwood Equities, LLC, has purchased the property, and hope to begin demolition of the current buildings on the property within the next two weeks. Fonkert says once demolition is complete, construction will begin on a building to house Dollar General.
Once construction of the new building is complete, Dollar General plans to relocate to the new location from their current store on 3rd Avenue downtown in Sheldon.
