Clay County authorities say that during a traffic stop Saturday evening, February 21st, a Clay County Deputy arrested the driver of the car, 18-year-old Kathryn Carroll of Hartley.

In the investigation during the stop, the deputy says he noticed a pair of shoes that were similar to a pair that had been reported stolen in January. When the deputy went back to the car to give Carroll traffic tickets and question her about the shoes, he says he saw that the shoes were missing.

Carroll was reportedly questioned about the shoes and the Sheriff’s report says she allegedly initially lied to the deputy about any knowledge of the shoes. The report says she later allegedly confessed they were stolen and she had them hidden in her boots.

After continued investigation at the jail, deputies say they now believe Carroll was involved in five separate Everly Girls High School locker room thefts, including the theft of an iPod Touch, a pair of jeans, a pair of shoes, $70 cash and $50 cash.

Deputies say Carroll was cited into magistrate court on speeding and no insurance charges, and jailed on five counts of Fifth Degree Theft, all simple misdemeanors. She was held on a $1,500 cash or surety bond.
