Eldridge Family Funeral Homes Take Over Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service

Sheldon, Iowa — Long-time northwest Iowa funeral directors Larry and Lavonne Andringa have now completed the sale of their location in Sheldon, as part of their strategy for retirement.

The Angringa’s Sheldon location, Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service has been purchased by Ben and Sara Eldridge of the Eldridge Family Funeral Homes. Ben Eldridge says Andringa approached him earlier this year to gauge his interest in purchasing the Sheldon location.

(As above) “Larry came to us earlier this year and asked if we would be interested in purchasing his funeral home, and we thought it a be a great opportunity to continue his business.”

Eldridge says the funeral home will now be known as Andringa Funeral Home-Sheldon, and he is looking forward to providing the same quality services that the Andringas have delivered over the years.

(As above) “We’re looking forward to continue what Larry and Lavonne did, and we thoroughly enjoy working with people in Sheldon.”

Sheldon’s other funeral home, Vander Ploeg Funeral Home is also part of the Eldridge family of funeral homes, but Eldridge says the two Sheldon funeral homes will be run as separate entities, with Andringa Funeral Home-Sheldon doing business from the current Highway 18 location.

(As above) “We are going to run everything just as normal. Vander Ploeg is going to run as Vander Ploeg and Andringa’s will run as Andringa’s. We’re going to keep everything running the same as it did.”

Andringa Funeral Home-Sheldon can still be reached by calling 712-324-2230, while the company’s Vander Ploeg Funeral Home can be reached at 712-324-3331.

In addition to selling their Sheldon location to Eldridge, Larry and Lavonne have sold their Sibley and Ocheyedan funeral homes to Jerry and Amy Jurrens of Jurrens Funeral Homes. With the completion of the sales, the Andringas end a 37-year career in the funeral business in northwest Iowa.
