Northwest Iowa — It’s springtime in Iowa, and motorists can expect to be sharing the road with farm implements this time of year, as farmers move machinery from field to field to complete spring planting.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper Nick Erdmann says the best thing motorists can do to be safe around farm equipment is just to be patient.
Trooper Erdmann says there are some items that must be displayed on implements when they take to the roadway.
He says that, occasionally, some implements are missing some of the required equipment.
Erdmann says it’s especially important for motorists to drive defensively this time of year, and avoid distractions. At highway speeds you can run up on the back of a slow moving farm implement very quickly.
