Sheldon, Iowa — Construction is underway for the City of Sheldon’s new $5.3-million Event Center, which is being built south of the Holiday Inn Express in the Sheldon Crossing area.
At this point, the facility lacks a name, but that will no longer be true in a few weeks. Earlier, the City announced a Naming Contest, where citizens of Sheldon could submit their suggestions for a name for the new facility. The City reports they received 63 different name suggestions, during Phase I of the contest.
Last week, the top four names, which had been selected by the Event Center Design Review Committee, were approved by the Council, and are now being voted upon by the citizens of Sheldon.
The names being considered for the facility are: 1860 Regional Event Center; The Water’s Edge Regional Event Center; The Water’s Edge Pavillion; and the Crossroads Regional Event Center.
Voting is open through 4:00 pm July 29th. The name receiving the most votes will be the name of the facility.
