Sheldon, Iowa — O’Brien County Tourism is sponsoring a peek into history with an event entitled, “When School Bells Rang.”
O’Brien County Economic Development Director Kiana Johnson tells us more about the Thursday, June 23, 2016 event.
She says Peters has has written a book.
She says there will be a meal as well — with a twist.
Johnson says they’d especially like to see you if you attend a country school or know someone who did, or if you are interested in the history of education in O’Brien County.
The event is Thursday, June 23rd at the Wansink Art Gallery at 1423 Park Street. That’s the old schoolhouses along Highway 18 in Sheldon. Tours will begin at 5 PM, with the “Sack Lunch” at 6. The presentation will be at 6:30.
Cost is $20.00 for the presentation and meal, and you must preregister by 3 PM on Friday, June 17th. Proceeds will go to help Wesley Peters publish his book on the history of country schools in O’Brien County.
For more information, or to preregister, call O’Brien County Economic Development at 712-957-1313.
