Northwest Iowa — This weekend being the first weekend of summer, there are plenty of outdoor activities going on in northwest Iowa — not least of which being RiseFest here in Sheldon. But if you’ve taken a look at the weather forecast, you know forecasters are telling us it’s going to be a hot weekend.
We talked to meteorologist Kyle Weiser at the National Weather Service office in Sioux Falls, and he tells us what to expect.
Since it’s been a little bit since we’ve had to deal with weather that hot, Weiser gives us some reminders and ways to beat the heat.
As of Wednesday afternoon, an excessive heat watch had been posted for a large number of counties. Every county in Iowa was in a heat watch, as was much of eastern Nebraska, much of eastern South Dakota, many counties in Minnesota, and even a few in Wisconsin and North Dakota.
