Finally! Fall Colors Arriving In Earnest

Northeast Iowa colors were delayed with warm, humid weather, but are now turning with cool temps. Maples are turning orange, yellow and red. Aspen are brilliant yellow.

This weekend will be good for leaf peepers and color may peak around the 20th. West central forests near Pisgah are popping with red and orange shrubs. Trees are turning quickly with yellow, orange and red. This week and next will be a good time to venture out and look. Along the Iowa River Greenbelt in Central Iowa, hard maples in area state parks are beginning to show colors with yellows from ash, elm and hickory, too. The best colors are found here.
