Northwest Iowa — Our first taste of winter for this season is expected Thursday night into Friday, and the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the broadcast area that stretches from 9:00 pm Thursday until noon on Friday.
Tim Masters is with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls and he tells us what we can expect.
Masters says snowfall amounts will vary with this storm system, but any snow we get probably won’t stick around long.
While the snow will melt fairly quickly once it hits the ground, the problem will come in while it’s falling and he says travel will become challenging at times.
The National Weather Service says you should plan on slippery road conditions with the blowing snow and strong winds. Gusty winds could also bring down tree branches, according to Masters.
