Rock Rapids, Iowa — The City of Rock Rapids has been informed by Lyon County Emergency Management that there is a high potential for flooding due to a rapid rise in Tom Creek coming from the east.
Residents and business in the following areas of Rock Rapids are advised to prepare for the worst starting immediately:
East side of Rock River, north side of Highway 9: Areas west of Lincoln Street.
East side of Rock River, south side of Highway 9: Areas west of Pearl Street.
West side of Rock River, south side of Highway 9: Areas east of Benton Street from 1st to 3rd Avenue; Areas east of Tama Street from 3rd to 7th
Rock Rapids City officials say sand bags and sand are available at the City Shop on 3rd Avenue. If anyone can help fill sandbags, please show up at the city shop and bring a shovel.
