Spirit Lake, Iowa — A new county attorney has been appointed for Dickinson County.
He is former Assistant Dickinson County Attorney, Steve Goodlow. The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors chose Goodlow at their meeting on Tuesday morning, January 3rd, 2023. Due to inclement weather, the meeting was held via Zoom. The position begins immediately, but due to the weather, the swearing-in ceremony was postponed.
Goodlow replaces former Dickinson County Attorney Amy Zenor, who resigned in early December after being arrested in the county courthouse and charged with public intoxication.
The board of supervisors could have decided to hold a special election instead, but County Supervisor Steve Clark says it would have been three months before a special election could be held. So, in the interest of time, they decided to appoint someone instead.
The board had put Goodlow in charge of the office until the decision was made. Zenor had been the Dickinson County Attorney since January of 2020.
