Former Sheldon Resident Gets Fifteen Years In Prison

Le Mars, Iowa — A former Sheldon man has been sentenced to fifteen years in prison.

According to Plymouth County Attorney Darin Raymond, 55-year-old David Robertson of Merrill, Iowa, formerly of Sheldon has been sentenced in Plymouth County District Court for three Felony Criminal Offenses: Two Counts of Burglary in the Third Degree and One Count of Forgery.

Raymond says the burglaries occurred in rural Plymouth County in early December 2019, and the Forgery resulted from items stolen in the burglaries. He says the incident was originally investigated by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Plymouth County Attorney’s Office.

Raymond’s office tells us that Robertson was sentenced by Judge Patrick Tott, to a total term in prison not to exceed fifteen years. Robertson was taken into immediate custody by the Plymouth County Sheriff who was ordered to take him to the Iowa Department of Corrections where he will serve the sentence. The Court suspended all fines but ordered Robertson to pay restitution to the victims of his offenses.
